Incoming Tide

Painting rocks is so gratifying but very challenging.  Sculpted by the elements, they present as a massive jigsaw puzzle just defying the artist to make them "feel" like rocks and not just blobs.  This plein air painting took several hours and was transformed as the tide changed directions - I decided to go with the afternoon incoming tide as it was dramatic but was still juxtaposed by the tidepools reflecting the sky.
